The Procreate

About theprocreate

theprocreate is an independent guide library for Procreate users who want to keep their artwork editable and prepare the right file for its destination.

Practical decisions around the artwork

A layer that follows the wrong shape, a brush that responds unexpectedly, or a file that looks different after export needs a clear next step. Our guides explain the relevant state, the choice in front of you and what to inspect before continuing.

The focus is Procreate for iPad: layers, selections, brushes, troubleshooting, canvas planning and export. Procreate Pocket and Procreate Dreams have different interfaces and requirements; they are outside the current guide library.

The Nathan Reed byline

Nathan Reed is the site's editorial byline. The voice is practical: keep the editable source, understand the tradeoff and make the smallest useful change. Recommendations are editorial judgments supported by documented product behavior.

How the guides are researched

Product facts are checked against primary documentation and the requirements of the receiving application, printer or service. We do not install or run the software, test devices or produce our own performance measurements for these guides. A reader's verification step is an instruction for their file, rather than a result we have recorded.

Our editorial policy explains how claims, examples and commercial relationships are handled. The research and verification method describes how an instruction is checked against its evidence.

Find the relevant guide

Start with troubleshooting for an unexpected result, layers and tool workflows for an editing decision, or export and print preparation when the artwork has a destination. The guide search brings the published library together.
